The Trail of Tears, “the Trail Where They Cried” - nu na hi du na tlo hi lu i - in Cherokee language, refers to Cherokee Removal, to their forced relocation in 1838, but the Cherokees were not the only Native Americans forced to emigrate as a result of the Indian Removal efforts of the United States.

About 4000 Cherokee died as a result of the removal and that route, the route they traversed and the journey itself from Georgia to Oklahoma, became known as “The Trail of Tears“.

The symbol of the pain and suffering of the “Trail Where They Cried” is the Cherokee Rose, now the official flower of the state of Georgia too; the legend says the mothers of the Cherokee grieved so much that the chiefs prayed for a sign to lift the mother’s spirits and give them strength to care for their children.. and from that day forward, a beautiful new flower - a rose - grew wherever a mother’s tear fell to the ground..
A rose white for the mother’s tears with a gold center for the gold taken from the Cherokee lands and with seven leaves on each stem for the seven Cherokee clans that made the journey then..
To this day, the Cherokee rose prospers along the route of the “Trail of Tears“…

In 2000, the United States spewed one-fifth of the globe’s carbon dioxide (CO2) — nearly 7 billion tons.
The following map shows how the regions of the United States compare to the world’s other top CO2 emitters, with China’s output roughly equal to that of India, Russia, Canada and South Korea combined.
Figures represent millions of tons of CO2.

During the Great Depression, the United States put men to work improving and extending the nation’s roads and highways; hovewer these roads built in the 1930’s were for 1950’s faster cars, a bit inadequate so the roads were again widened and divided using as an example, the Germany’s Autobahns.

Today, modern interstate highways are wonderful ways to get somewhere fast as it’s not just the destination that is important, so is the journey; large parts of the US highway system can still take you someplace without all the small towns and tourist traps in-between.

When people talk about the new, family-friendly Las Vegas they are referring to the Strip which is not a benevolent place, neither is it a smart place to gamble; it is however, a great place to kill time looking at the spectacles and schmucks.
Every day more schmucks get fleeced on the Las Vegas Strip than any other place on Earth.
Las Vegas Strip is 6.4 km section of Las Vegas Boulevard, south of the Las Vegas city limits. 18 of the 25 largest hotels in the world are located on The Strip, for example.

In addition to these large hotels and casinos The Strip is home to a few smaller casinos and motels and other attractions.

The United States consumes about 19 million barrels of oil a day (but has less than 2 percent of the world’s remaining oil) mostly to power its 200 million automobiles.
US produces only about 42 percent of that total, the other 58 percent has to be imported from other countries, Middle East being one of its oil suppliers.

Saudi Arabia produces over 4 gigabarrels (600 million tons) of oil per year (17 tons per second), claiming a quarter of the world’s proven oil reserves.

Alberta contains nearly all of Canada’s oil sands and about 75% of its conventional oil reserves, Canada being placed second only to Saudi Arabia.
Hovewer, Canada is the United States’ largest supplier, not Saudi Arabia; over 99% of canadian oil exports are sent to the United States.

Washington, DC - called the Federal City in the 19th century - was named also after the first president of the United States, George Washington. It was planned and developed in the late of 18th century to serve as the permanent national capital; the federal district was formed to keep it distinct from the states.

The federal district was named District of Columbia because Columbia was a poetic name for the United States, used at that time - close to the 300th anniversary of Columbus’ first voyage to the Americas in 1492.

Italy, a peninsula, is surrounded by the Ligurian Sea, the Sardinian Sea, the Tyrrhenian Sea, the Sicilian and Ionian Sea and Adriatic Sea and borders on France, Austria, Switzerland and Slovenia.

Italy has a high population of senior citizens and most of italians are very different from the stereotype of “pulcinella, pizza and mandolino” seen in movies; much more, for many of them this stereotype could be quite offensive.

The most populated and developed portion of Italy is the north with cities like Milan, the fashion capital of the world or Venice, one of the most beautiful cities in Italy (home to Island of Murano).
